Installing the FirstClass Client Software
Most WrightLink users prefer the custom FirstClass Client software to access their accounts. This software is specifically designed for ease-of-use, and provides a simple, well-integrated and powerful environment for accessing WrightLink. Client software is currently available for Macintosh and Windows platforms.

Note that even when you are using the FirstClass Client software, your computer must be connected to the Internet.

To install the FirstClass Client software, there are two steps:

  1. Download the UPGRADE!
    Select your operating system below and then follow the installation instructions as they appear below. You may receive a warning that you are about to download an executable file which could possibly contain a virus. Click Open to bypass this warning the installation from FirstClass does not contain any viruses.

    The installation files are quite large and can take some time to download. If you have difficulty downloading the installation, contact Ann Howard.

  2. Install the FirstClass Client Software
    The downloaded file will appear on your desktop (unless you chose to save it to another location). Double click this file. On Windows, the installation will begin. On a Mac, you will see an installer icon. Double click this icon. Accept the default settings at each prompt. After all the prompts, the FirstClass Client software installation will occur.

  3. Configure the FirstClass Client Software and Login
    Once you have installed the FirstClass Client software on your computer, open the program (if it does not open automatically). You will see a login screen similar to the one below:



    Click the "Setup" button. The following screen will appear:



    • Detect your connection method.  At the "Connect Via:" prompt, select one of the following options:

    Connection method Description
    Dialup Internet.FCP Your computer is connected to the Internet via a dialup connection.
    High-Speed Internet.FCP Your computer is connected directly to a high-speed internet modem. In this case, your computer is not part of a network.
    Internet.FCP You are unsure of how your computer is connected to the Internet.
    Local Network.FCP Your computer is connected to a local area network.

    • Enter your username.
    • Type wrightlink.wrightinst.edu in the Server box.
    • Click Save

    This will return you to the login screen. Enter your password and click login.

    You are now logged into WrightLink using the FirstClass Client software. Your WrightLink desktop should now be visible.
